Games

So now that I’m not working on a short film anymore, whatever will I write about? I could talk about what I’m up to next, but it’s early days…
How about some games instead?

Little Big Planet (PS3) needs to be played with friends to be fully and properly enjoyed. You can marvel at its beautifully real yet puppet-like world and characters and nod in agreement at the level building tools and the ingenious creations they are already producing, but it’s not until you’ve played with 3 or 4 that you begin to appreciate how truly hilarious this game is…

A more solitary affair – but no less wonderful – is World of Goo (Wii/PC). If you know the Experimental Gameplay prototype that was “Tower of Goo”, then know that this is that game re-imagined in all directions…
It has a whimsical Burton-esque quality that is at once light and dark.
It embraces its absurdity to the fullest extent, building towers with gooey balls of tar – it manages to weave an insane yet compelling narrative through its four chapters and epilogue. Visually, musically and interactively stunning.
I could go on to describe the gameplay, but really, you should just try the demo.
